KNOW YOUR DISEASE

Coeliac disease or Celiac disease, which is an autoimmune disease generally occurring genetically, leading to indigestion on having gluten intake in diet, by damaging the small intestine.

Let me explain each and every term of it:

AutoImmune disease: According to Wikipedia, "Autoimmunity is the system of immune responses of an organism against its own cells and tissues." , i.e. Your immune system attacks your body only. It's a disorder of the immune system!

Occurring genetically: Celiac disease occures genetically, and no other means of having this disease has been proved till now.

Gluten intake: Gluten is a protein found in  wheatryebarley and any foods made with these grains

Damaging the small intestine: Gluten intake will cause immune to attack small intestine lining, thus damaging the villi.

Symptoms:

  • Diarrhea,
  • Bloating,
  • Gas (flatulence, farting),
  • Swollen ankles (edema),
  • Anemia,
  • Fatigue,
  • Vitamin K deficiency, and.
  • Excessive bruising and bleeding.
  • etc

Symptoms may or may not occur, depending on the damage gluten has done to your intestine. The most common symptom is fatigue, as intestine is not able to absorb food.

Since the absorbing power of the intestine is affected, it may lead to malnutrition. As nutrition like calcium, vitamin, proteins, fats, etc. will not be absorbed and it may lead to other deficiencies and diseases.

Cure:

Sadly, there is no cure. All you can do is to stop gluten intake to improve your health and live a completely normal life.
